Aviation Area Winds (AAW)

AAW provides forecast wind and temperature information for 17 predefined areas around New Zealand.

  • Usage: Compliments the GRAFOR to create a complete weather picture for general aviation.

World Area Forecast System (WAFS)

Provides the worldwide aviation community with operational meteorological forecasts and information required for flight planning.

  • Format: Issued in Grib2 format.

Drop Zone Forecasts

Specialized forecasts produced on an as-required basis for parachute operations.

  • Content: Standard weather info (wind, freezing level, QFE, visibility, cloud) for a spot location.
  • Altitude: All heights are in feet AGL (Above Ground Level), unlike standard aviation forecasts which use AMSL.
