Terminal Forecasts

Terminal forecasts provide critical meteorological information for specific airport locations to support takeoff, landing, and ground operations.

Terminal Aerodrome Forecasts (TAF)

A TAF is a concise statement of the expected meteorological conditions at an airport during a specified period.

  • Duration: Typically 24 hours, increasing to 30 hours for major aerodromes.
  • Coverage: Available for all supported 4-letter ICAO airport codes.
  • History: You can request up to 7 days of historical TAFs.

Meteorological Terminal Aerodrome Reports (METARs)

METARs are routine aviation weather reports issued at hourly or half-hourly intervals. They represent a summary of observations at a specific time.

  • SPECI: A special non-routine report issued when critical meteorological conditions change significantly between routine reports.

Take Off Data (TOD)

TOD provides hourly forecast data for:

  • Wind
  • Temperature
  • Pressure

Available for selected airport locations to assist in performance calculations.

Runway Conditions (TALPA)

The Takeoff and Landing Performance Assessment (TALPA) initiative reduces runway overrun risks by consistently determining runway conditions.

  • Runway Sensor Data: Sensors in the runway surface measure friction, water depth, and temperature every minute.
  • Assessment: Airports use this data to report conditions to aircraft when runways are not dry.
